a two-year or a four-year college degree from an accredited US institution of higher learning
currently licensed, or eligible to be licensed as a peace officer by time of hire with the Minnesota POST Board
Citizenship

Residency
You do not have to be a resident of Golden Valley to apply for or work as an GVPD police officer.
Background
Golden Valley police officers are entrusted with responsibility to keep the community safe from crime and corruption. Therefore, a history of ethical and moral behavior is of the utmost importance. Candidates will be subjected to an intensive background evaluation, and those who have a history of unethical or immoral behavior will not be hired.
