While the Golden Valley Police Department handles stray pets and public safety threats involving animals, the Public Works Department plays an equally important role in animal control—removing roadkill.
If you see a deceased animal on a public road or public property, do not attempt to move it yourself. Contact Golden Valley Public Works at 763-593-3962 or publicworksdept@goldenvalleymn.gov. Staff will respond as soon as possible for safe removal.
If the deceased animal is on private property, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers two options. You can remove it yourself using safety precautions such as wearing disposable gloves, double-bagging the animal, and placing it in the trash to help prevent attracting other animals. Or, for a fee, you can hire a licensed wildlife control operator to handle the disposal.
