Golden Valley Mayor Roslyn Harmon moderated the first in a series of public town hall meetings Monday, Jan 26, 2026, with a packed house in attendance at Brookview. The event was designed to share information with the community about the City’s work and was organized and promoted in collaboration with the Golden Valley League of Women Voters, the Rotary Club of Golden Valley, and the Golden Valley Historical Society.
The town hall covered recent tragedies in Minneapolis, the City's responsiveness to community, and an overview of the City's Building Forward Plan to update public works and public safety facilities. Throughout the evening, staff and council members responded to questions submitted by the audience.
Development of the event was guided by community feedback and the City's goals to be transparent, restorative, and collaborative. The City expects to host a town hall meeting once per quarter in 2026, with the next one also serving as the State of the City, date to be confirmed soon.
"The town halls were designed as one of many steps for community solidarity, productive discussion, and positive solutions," explained Harmon.
The City expects to host a town hall meeting once per quarter in 2026, with the next one also serving as part of the State Of The City, on Wednesday, April 15, 6:30 to 8 pm. All town halls will be recorded and made available to the public on City Cable Channel 16 and on the City’s YouTube channel.
