Beginning Friday, May 2, Golden Valley residents can pick up free compost at Hampshire Park.
The City produces the compost through its organics recycling program and sources it from the SMSC Organics Recycling Facility, a permitted facility that meets the Process To Further Reduce Pathogens (PFRP) requirements and is United States Composting Council (USCC) Seal of Testing Assurance (STA) certified. This means the compost is safe from jumping worms, pathogens, heavy metals, and other contaminants. It meets or exceeds all applicable state and federal quality and testing standards.
The compost is available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Each household may collect up to two 5-gallon buckets; residents must bring their own containers.
