Honoring Our Heroes: National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend

Current News Posted on May 02, 2025

This weekend honors firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty and offers a time to reflect on the growing dangers firefighters face each day.

This year, fallen firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth of the Burnsville Fire Department will be honored in Maryland at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial for his sacrifice. Finseth served with the Burnsville Police Department since 2019 as both a firefighter and SWAT paramedic. He was killed in the line of duty on Feb 18, 2024, while responding to a 911 call reporting a sexual assault. His courage, service, and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

The City also extends its deepest appreciation to the Golden Valley Fire Department, and to everyone who selflessly dedicates their time, energy, and heart to keep the community safe.

Join us in remembering the fallen, supporting their families, and thanking those who continue to answer the call.
