Golden Valley Police Department Alerts Apartment Residents To Recent Vehicle Break-Ins

Current News Posted on February 14, 2025

The Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD) is alerting residents to a series of vehicle break-ins in apartment garages that occurred between Jan 26 and Feb 4, 2025. Authorities urge residents to take precautionary measures to prevent further incidents.

While investigations are ongoing, the GVPD encourages all residents to follow safety protocols, particularly between 10 pm and 6 am. Police also remind community members about the importance of the 9PM Routine, a nationwide campaign promoting crime prevention habits.

Tips For Preventing Apartment Break-Ins And Thefts:

  • Close and lock all vehicle windows and doors, even in secured parking garages.
  • Do not leave bags or valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle. Even if an item appears unimportant, thieves may break in to find out.
  • If you see something suspicious, report it to 911. This includes unknown vehicles following you into a parking garage or a car entering quickly after another exits.
  • If you park outside your residence, follow 9PM Routine safety steps.

9PM Routine Safety Reminders

  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors.
  • Never leave your vehicle running unattended.
  • Remove keys and valuables from your vehicles.
