Animal Control Issues—Who You Gonna Call?

If you've ever encountered an animal issue and weren't sure who to call, this comprehensive guide should help.

Immediate Threat To Public Safety

If you encounter a pet or wild animal that poses an immediate threat to public safety (ie, an animal that bites or harms another person or that appears to have rabies), or if you suspect an illegal activity (ie, dogfighting), call 911.

Stray Or Lost Pet

To report a stray or missing pet, contact the Golden Valley Police Department at 763-593-8079 or email police@goldenvalleymn.gov with the animal's description and general location. Additionally, notify local animal shelters and impound facilities.

Wild Animal In Your Home Or On Your Property

If you have a wild animal in your home or on your property, call the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources or a professional animal removal company to assist.

Animal Abuse, Cruelty, Or Neglect

To report animal abuse, cruelty, or neglect, contact the Minnesota Federated Animal Abuse hotline at 877-826-4625 or visit mnfedhs.org.

Roadkill Disposal

To report and dispose of roadkill, contact the Golden Valley Public Works Department at 763-593-3962 or email pworks@goldenvalleymn.gov.
