Absentee voting for the state primary election starts Friday, June 28 and runs until Monday, August 12. The primary election is scheduled for August 13. Residents can cast their votes by mail or in person Monday–Friday, 8 am–4:30 pm at City Hall.
Primary elections determine which candidates will appear on the November 2024 general election ballot for each party. You may only vote for candidates within one political party; however, political party registration is not required in Minnesota.
By Mail
To receive an absentee ballot, you’ll need to complete and submit an absentee ballot application online or by mail. Get your application at www.mnvotes.org or by calling Hennepin County Elections at 612-348-5151.Once your completed and signed application is received, your absentee ballot will be mailed to you with instructions.
In Person
You may apply and vote absentee at Golden Valley City Hall:
- Friday, June 28 to Friday, Aug 9 8 am–4:30 pm
- Saturday, Aug 10 9 am–3 pm
- Monday, Aug 12 8 am–5 pm
By Agent
In special situations, you may ask an agent to pick up and return an absentee ballot for you starting seven days before the election. This is called agent delivery.
