Springtime brings tornadoes to Minnesota. Stay safe with these tips:
- Seek shelter in a basement or under sturdy protection, like a table.
- Cover yourself with a mattress or sleeping bag if possible.
- In buildings without basements, avoid windows and go to the lowest floor, a central room, or under a stairwell.
- Crouch low, cover your head, and use thick padding.
- If driving, flee at right angles to the tornado’s path or seek shelter in a sturdy building.
The statewide tornado drill is today at 1:45 pm and 6:45 pm. The first session is for institutions and businesses, the second is for shift workers and families.
