The City of Golden Valley completed several roadway and utility projects this construction season.
Zane Ave And Lindsay St Improvements
On Zane Ave and Lindsay St, crews replaced and repaired utilities, installed a new road surface, and added a sidewalk along Zane Ave. Work on Lindsay St was mostly completed in 2024, with final punch-list items expected to wrap up this fall and possibly into spring. The railroad crossing near Lindsay is scheduled for replacement in 2026.
Mill And Overlay Project
City contractors completed a mill and overlay project from early September through October. Work included storm sewer repairs, new pavement surfaces, sidewalk and trail improvements, and pedestrian crossing upgrades, including a new crossing added at the Franklin Center on Boone Ave. Separate CenterPoint Energy utility work in the same area is nearing completion.
Mill and overlay road segments included:
- 10th Ave from Winnetka Ave to Mendelssohn Ave
- Lewis Rd
- Boone Ave from Plymouth Ave to Hwy 55
- General Mills Blvd from Hwy 55 to Harold Ave
In addition, City crews completed an in-house mill and overlay project on several other roads south of Hwy 55 and west of Winnetka Ave, including Wisconsin Ave and Vermont Ave south of I-394.
Watermain Replacement
Two sections of watermain were replaced along Hwy 55, one between Boone Ave and Wisconsin Ave, and the other between Schaper Rd and Olson Memorial Hwy Frontage Rd. Final punch list items and turf restoration will be completed either this fall or in 2026.
