The Nov 5 General Election is around the corner. Whether you plan to vote by mail, in person, or another way, now is the time to prepare.
Absentee Voting By Mail
To receive an absentee ballot, you’ll need to complete and submit an absentee ballot application. Get your application at www.hennepin.us/residents/elections/absentee-early-voting or by calling Hennepin County at 612-348-5151.
Send completed absentee ballot applications to Hennepin County Elections by:

Once your completed and signed application is received, your absentee ballot will be mailed to you with instructions. Completed ballots can also be returned to the Golden Valley city clerk. Your ballot will not count if it is received after Election Day. Absentee ballot tracking is available.
Absentee Voting In Person
Apply and vote absentee at Golden Valley City Hall during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 am–4:30 pm) through November 4. Election workers will review the application and issue a ballot to vote on site.
Early Voting By Direct Ballot In Person
Eighteen days before the election, you may vote in person at City Hall by filling out an application and placing your ballot through a tabulator. Direct ballot hours are:
- Friday, Oct 18 to Nov 4, 8 am–4:30 pm
- Saturday, Oct 26, 9 am–3 pm
- Tuesday, Oct 29, 8 am–7 pm
- Saturday, Nov 2, 9 am–3 pm
- Sunday, Nov 3, 9 am–3 pm
- Monday, Nov 4, 8 am–5 pm
Election Day Voting
On Election Day, you must vote in your own precinct 7 am–8 pm. Find your precinct location at pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us.
Voter Registration
- Register if you have never voted before
- Re-register if you have changed your name, moved to a new address, or not voted in four years
Preregistration for the General Election closes Tuesday, Oct 15 at 5 pm.
To register, complete a Minnesota Voter Registration Application by mail, in person, or online at mnvotes.org.
