The US Forest Service awarded Hennepin County a $10 million grant for urban and community forestry initiatives aimed at removing diseased trees, planting trees, educating residents, and supporting businesses and workforce development.
The funding will assist homeowners with lower incomes in removing and replacing trees from their properties. Trees that qualify for removal are significantly diseased or otherwise hazardous.
Priority will be given to applicants living on the property with a household income below $94,650 for households of one to four people. Submissions will not be accepted from households making more than the set income limits.
The application process is entirely online and available in English, Hmong, Somali, and Spanish. To apply, visit hennepin.us/tree-help.
