In our modern era, technology allows us to receive warnings and alerts wherever we are. Being aware of how to access these notifications and how to respond can be the key to survival.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MNDPS) website offers comprehensive guidance on severe weather alerts, ranging from personal notifications to siren activations and the various types of warnings.
By visiting the website, you can learn about the different wireless emergency alerts and personal weather notifications available, along with instructions on how to subscribe. The website also includes information about the activation of sirens as well as the distinctions between weather advisories, watches, and warnings.
GV Emergency
In addition to the emergency alert resources on the MNDPS website, the City also has its own emergency notification system that community members can sign up for. GV Emergency is a mass notification tool to help the City more effectively communicate with residents in the event of an emergency. It will provide important information via text, phone call, or email, depending on subscriber preferences. The system will only be used during community-wide or localized emergencies as well as in situations that may affect public safety or City services.
