Golden Valley Partners With Local Food Shelves To Support Community

Current News Posted on January 23, 2026

The City of Golden Valley is partnering with local food shelves to support neighbors facing food and essentials insecurity.

Through this partnership, food shelves serving Golden Valley residents can offer a range of nutritious options, including culturally specific foods that honor the community’s diverse backgrounds and traditions.

Council Member Chris Queitzsch is helping coordinate this effort. “We call upon staff and community to support families through the donation of essentials, including non-perishable foods and personal care items.” says Queitzsch. “Together, the Golden Valley community can help ensure neighbors have access to food that feels familiar, dignified, and nourishing.”

Community members can support the effort with in-person donations at City facility collection sites, including:

  • Brookview (316 Brookview Parkway, open 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm Sunday)
  • City Hall (7800 Golden Valley Road, open 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday)
  • Ice rink warming houses during regular operating hours:
    • Gearty Park
    • Hampshire Park
    • Lions Park
    • Medley Park
    • Scheid Park
      • Warming houses are open 4:30 to 8 pm Monday through Friday, 10 am to 8 pm Saturday, and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday.Visit www.goldenvalleymn.gov/219/Skating-Rinks for weather notifications impacting operating hour
