The City of Golden Valley requires licensing for all residential rental properties, including single-family homes, duplexes, townhomes, condos, group homes, and multi-family units. In accordance with City Code Section 16, Article III, property owners must renew their licenses annually and schedule inspections every three years, unless complaints are filed.
Multi-family properties are subject to annual inspections of common areas and some units. Rental owners must keep properties in safe, sanitary condition and are responsible for code compliance, including shared spaces and pest control. Failure to obtain a license may result in a misdemeanor charge.
