Members of the Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD) joined the staff at Rudy Luther Toyota in Golden Valley Wednesday, Nov 20, 2024, for an annual chili cook-off that supports the GVPD’s Shop With A Cop program, which pairs local children in need with law enforcement officers for a day of shopping, fun, and holiday cheer.
“Shop With A Cop provides the children with a $100 shopping spree to buy holiday gifts for their families and themselves,” says Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green. “It is designed to build positive connections between children and police officers, promote community engagement, and ensure all children in the area have a memorable and joyful holiday season.”
Green says the GVPD looks forward to attending the annual event, which features a friendly competition between Rudy Luther Toyota team members as they showcase their best chili recipes. “They have over a dozen varieties of chili to taste and judge,” adds Green. “The white chicken chili has been one of the favorites.”
“Supporting the Shop With A Cop program is something that means a lot to us here at Rudy Luther Toyota,” says Executive Manager Debbie Tufts. “This event is not just about great chili—it’s about giving back to the community and helping create positive relationships between law enforcement and local youth. We’re thrilled to be a part of such a meaningful cause.”
At the event, Green presented Tufts with the GVPD’s Community Service Award.
