City Staff And Mayor Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day At Water Blessing

Golden Valley Mayor Roslyn Harmon and City staff joined community members for the third annual Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Water Blessing at West Medicine Lake Park on Indigenous Peoples’ Day (Oct 13). Sponsored by the City’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC) and Environmental Commission, the event featured speakers and an interactive ceremony honoring the gifts water provides.

Mayor Harmon Meets With Other City Leaders At CD5 Mayors’ Luncheon 

Last week, Mayor Roslyn Harmon and City Manager Noah Schuchman joined other local leaders at the annual CD5 Mayors’ Luncheon to collaborate on finding solutions to community issues. The luncheon brought together representatives from Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, Crystal, Fridley, Golden Valley, New Hope, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St Louis Park, and a small portion of Edina.

Council Member Harris And City Staff Attend Amazon Ribbon Cutting

Council Member Maurice Harris, City Manager Noah Schuchman, and Community Development & Economic Director Emily Goellner helped celebrate the launch of the newest Amazon facility in Golden Valley at an Oct 16 ribbon cutting ceremony. The event also included a site tour, information about Amazon’s operations, and how the new facility fits into the company’s larger network.

Brookview Hosts Governor Walz And Local Mayors For MLC Board Meeting

Governor Tim Walz spoke at the Municipal Legislative Commission (MLC) board meeting Oct 22 at Brookview. Mayor Roslyn Harmon and City Manager Noah Schuchman were among the local leaders present to discuss suburban legislative priorities for the upcoming year. According to its website, the MLC “was established in 1984 to provide a voice at the Capitol for a group of suburban communities who shared common demographic, economic, and tax base characteristics.” Golden Valley is one of the 18 member cities.
