Golden Valley is only as strong as its residents make it. One way to get involved is by serving on a City advisory body. These groups are responsible for researching, reviewing, and making recommendations to the City Council on issues that affect the community.
Current Openings
Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA): The BZA hears requests for variances from the Zoning Code. The BZA currently has one youth seat available.
Community Services Commission (CSC): The CSC plans and holds fundraisers and events to help raise money to meet human service needs in the community and advises the City Council on allocation of funds. The CSC currently has four regular seats available.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC): The DEIC advises, recommends, and assists the Council in matters relating to diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights. The DEIC currently has one regular and one youth seat available.
Open Space & Recreation Commission (OSRC): The OSRC advises, recommends, and assists Council in policies and plans relating to open space needs, parks and recreation programs, trail systems, and Brookview Golf Course. The OSRC currently has one youth seat available.
Police Employment, Accountability, and Community Engagement Commission (PEACE): The PEACE Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to policing in Golden Valley. PEACE has one youth seat available.
Planning Commission (PC): The Planning Commission advises, recommends, and assists the Golden Valley City Council in matters relating to planning and growth of the City, including issues relating to the social, economic, and physical environment. The PC currently has one youth and three regular seats available.
