The City's sewers are only meant to handle waste and toilet paper, nothing else.
What NOT To Flush
- Diapers, Feminine Hygiene Products, Tissues: These items do not dissolve like toilet paper does. Toilet paper is the only paper material specifically made for flushing.
- Flushable Wipes: Although some products say they can be flushed, in most cases this isn’t true. Throw away all wipes in the garbage.
- Food Waste/Grease: Even if the food products seem small and harmless to plumbing, it’s always best to throw food and food grease in the garbage or compost. In fact, the City has an ordinance prohibiting food waste from being discharged into the sewer system.
