Golden Valley Fire Department Shares Winter Weather Safety Tips

The sub-zero temperatures expected this week has the Golden Valley Fire Department concerned for the safety of Golden Valley residents. Follow the tips below to help stay safe through these freezing temperatures.

Prepare Your Home

Make sure your home is winter ready. Purchase supplies like food, water, generators, space heaters, and other essentials incase you lose power or get snowed in. Remember to use space heaters only on their recommended settings, keep them away from flammable items, and use the sleep setting so you don't forget to turn them off.

Prepare Your Vehicle

Ensure your vehicle is stocked with extra warm clothing, a safety kit, and other essentials incase you get stranded on the side of the road.

Monitor The Forecast

Preparing for extreme winter weather is easier when you have a few days' notice. Keep track of weather on television, online, or on your phone so you know when to take action.
