At its Dec 6 meeting, the Golden Valley City Council voted to change the name and bylaws of the Human Services Commission. Moving forward the group will be known as the Community Services Commission (CSC) and will have four regular members and one youth member. The duties of the commission remain as supporting human service needs in the community and recommending action to the City Council regarding funding those needs.
Staff and commissioners recommended the changes due to a shortage of applicants to serve on the HSC as well as a shortage of volunteers to serve on numerous city sponsored fundraising events. The changes are expected to increase operational efficiency and make the commission more appealing to future applicants.
