Golden Valley police investigators were able to positively identify the second suspect in the carjacking that occurred Monday, June 13, at the Speedway gas station at 1930 Douglas Dr N, Golden Valley. The 15-year-old white male from Eden Prairie turned himself in to Golden Valley Police Tuesday, June 14. He was formally charged by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office this afternoon with first degree aggravated robbery (felony, aid/abet). Additionally, the first suspect, a 15-year-old white male from Buffalo, was also formally charged today with first degree aggravated robbery (felony).
The 16-year-old carjacking victim reported she was pumping gas at approximately 8:37 pm June 13, with her 14-year-old sister sitting in the vehicle, when two teenage boys approached her vehicle. One of the boys displayed a handgun and demanded she hand over the keys for the 2018 Lexus RX. The two victims did not suffer any physical injuries.
Within two hours, the vehicle was found in Bloomington with assistance from Bloomington Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to recovering the vehicle, officers recovered a handgun and detained four teenagers, including one identified as the suspect who brandished the handgun and demanded the keys from the victim.
