All communities with more than 10,000 people that operate a storm sewer system are required by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to have an MS4 Permit (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System). The permit outlines protocols and procedures for ensuring that contaminants are kept out of the storm sewer and, subsequently, surface waters. These procedures are known as the SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan), and staff must review them annually and hold a public hearing to give the opportunity for the public to comment. This year's meeting is June 7, 2022, at 6:30 pm.
The Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan is available for review on the City website.
