City Announces Recognition Program For Environmentally-Friendly Local Businesses

To celebrate Earth Day, April 22, 2022, the City of Golden Valley is announcing the Energy Hero Recognition Program to acknowledge local businesses for taking steps to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy usage, or other practices that contribute to the City’s goals outlined in its Energy Action Plan

64 percent of energy consumption and 68 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Golden Valley comes from the commercial and industrial sectors, even though they only account for 9 percent of all premises in the city. The City believes that connecting with local businesses and providing resources and encouragement to make energy improvements will lead to significant local reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Apply For Recognition
Businesses can apply to the program on the City website or in person at City Hall. The City's environmental staff will then review applications for approval or denial.

Approved businesses will receive window clings to display, their name listed on the City website, and other marketing material for advertisement on their business website and social media pages.
